We are a not-for-profit, community-run preschool
Hunters Hill Preschool is a community-based, sessional preschool, managed by a Parent Executive
Committee. We are a not-for-profit service, which means that surpluses are re-invested into the
preschool for our community.
We are approved to operate by the Department of Education under the Education and Care
Services National Law and Regulations and have been rated Exceeding by them. We educate 58
children a day, over two sessions.
Established in 1949, we have been proudly educating the Hunters Hill community for the last 75
years.
At Hunters Hill Preschool, we acknowledge the
Wallumedegal people, the traditional custodians
of this land.
The community of Hunters Hill Preschool
acknowledge that the Wallumedegal people are
the traditional custodians of this land.
As a community-run preschool, Hunters Hill
Preschool is managed by the Director and The
Hunters Hill Preschool Association.
The curriculum at Hunters Hill is based on principles, practices and outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework and the National
Quality Standards. Our inclusive program is influenced by the knowledge and philosophy of Malaguzzi and the Reggio Emilia schools
where children are viewed as strong learners with rights and active participants in their own learning.
We also adhere to the play-based theory of theorists such as Lev Vygotsky where play is the driving force of development and we are
driven by the ideas of Friedrich Froebel’s inquiry based active learning.
At the forefront of our program is the interest and development of the children and the needs and ideas of our families and the wider
preschool community.
